Born in Mexico City and raised in Los Angeles, Martin grew to love the outdoors as an adult after moving his family to Washington State. He knows firsthand the challenges of having little accessibility to the outdoors and is happy to live in a place where the outside is user-friendly, no matter what your level. Having been a parent of 2 youth members, a chaperone and a supporter, Martin understands the mission of Y.E.T.I from a participant’s perspective. He has enjoyed volunteering in the local community and has served on the Board of a community service organization in Olympia that assists under-served people in the South Puget Sound area with educational and mental health services, and social and cultural activities. Martin works in the legal field where he puts his community service to use as well. Coming to Y.E.T.I by way of his children’s involvement, he is very excited to be part of seeing the vision of the organization evolve. Ask him and he will tell you how Y.E.T.I has helped his own children develop a love for the outside which helped them grow (and GRIT) on the inside too!
